Come Over To My House - BOM 2009
Block 1 - Brenda’s House

Share a Photo of your Block | View Block 1 Photos

Our first block in "Come Over To My House" is Brenda's House. To match Alecia's color scheme, you'll need orange, white, yellow, brown and cream colored scraps. If you want to have the same sky or background fabric for the whole quilt, make sure you have a 1/2 yard or so of it. It would also look great using more scrappy skies/backgrounds with different blues or creams for each block.

Alecia's first block, photo

I hope that you'll feel inspired to try your own color schemes too. And add all kinds of fun embellishments. House blocks are perfect for embellishing. You could select an interesting print for the window fabrics, or embroidery a kitty sitting in the window. Maybe you want to add a flower box, or fancy curtains. Or perhaps the front yard needs some landscaping? The instructions for this block were available for free for the first two months. If you were unable to download them during that time, you can purchase this block pattern for a small fee on my Patterns Page.

Please do not photocopy or email the PDF file to a friend. I want to you share my patterns with any one who wants it, but please direct them to this webpage and they can join right in. Brenda's House will be available until March 15th. After that you can purchase the block pattern for a small fee.

When you've finished your block, please share a photo of your block so we can all see each other's work. I've provided a form to submit your photos. It is easy to use! Check the bottom of this page to see other quilters' photos. I'll got us started with photos of my block and Alecia's block:

Share a photo of your house block!

One of the best parts of my local quilt shop's block of the month club is being able to see the blocks made by all the other quilters ... all the different color ideas, embellishments, and more.

We can do that online too. Please submit a photo of your "Brenda's House" block. I'll post it to a webpage so we can all enjoy each other's work! On February 15th, after I post Block 2, I'll select a winner from the block one photos that you submit and I'll send you a fun little surprise in the mail.
