Come Over To My House - BOM 2009
Block 8 - Ann's First Home

Share a Photo of your Block | View Block 8 Photos

Can you believe we are already over half way through the year? Block 8 is "Ann's First Home", named after my mother, whose first house was a yellow cracker box in Ames, Iowa. She loved that house!

Photo of House Block 8

To match our color scheme for block 8, you'll need yellow scraps for house, dark brown fabric for the roof and door, white or cream scraps for the windows, and brown or green scraps for the shutters, along with your sky/background fabric.

This pattern is no longer available free, but you can purchase it for $1.00 on my Patterns Page.

Remember that there is a series of video tutorials to help you with your roof triangles:

Marking Triangles Part 2

As usual, do not photocopy or email the PDF file to a friend. I want to you share my BOM pattern with any one who wants it, but please direct them to this web page and they can join right in.

When you've finished your 8th block, don't forget to post a photo of your block. Here is the form to submit your photos Check the bottom of this page to see other quilters' block 8 photos.

I decided I needed a blue Christmas house too.

Cara's House 8  starstarstarstarstar
I went a little crazy with the color on this house. I wanted it to look like tile. I hope it looks better in the quilt than it looks alone.

Julies August House  starstarstarstarstar
Another enjoyable house building experience!

Conny's block 8  starstarstarstarstar
A rather romantic half-timbered house. I wonder how this pink one will do beside all the other houses.
Well so it is in real life - all kind of colors....

Anne's House 8  starstarstarstarstar
I did a general layout of the town and decided this house needed to be light coloured, so it's a very pale yellow with speckles.. obviously the painter ...

DiahRothman's Block 8  starstarstarstarstar
I like Ann's First Home due to my most favorite fabrics being used here both the roof and the wall.

Pauline Esther's House Block 8  starstarstarstarstar
I thought this quaint, cosy little cottage needed window (flower) boxes, and I gave it a chimney as well. It was a nice little house to make.
