Let's Design a Quilt Together

Inspired by an NPR interview where Rivers Cuomo spoke about his online collaborative song writing project , I've begun this project. We are working together as a community of quilters to design a quilt. Once the pattern is completed and we have one or more sample quilts made, I propose to offer the pattern for sale on the Forever Green Quilts web site with the proceeds benefiting a charity that we chose as a community.

How do I participate?

To join this innovative collaborative design process, you can use the form below to submit your block design for our theme "Synthesis - What Makes You Smile?". You may chose to participate in every step in the process or only one or two.

Who can participate?

Let’s include as many people as possible: beginning quilters, professional quilters, professional quilt designers, and anyone else who might be interested. Please share this URL with any one you know who might be interested.

Why should I participate?

To me, quilting is closely tied to family and community. I see this Collaborative Quilt Design Project as a way to use my website to build community, like a virtual version of an old-time quilting bee. It is also a way that quilters can give back by donating the proceeds of the sale of the resulting pattern to a charity. If these values of community and giving are important to you too and if you want to have fun, you should participate! If your idea or design is selected to be used in the quilt, your name will be included as one of the designers in the final pattern that is produced. Join the fun and get your creative juices flowing as we work together on this.
