I designed this wall hanging (finished size is about 28" x 22") to show that "green" quilts don't have to be light, potentially boring colors. As you can see this is quite colorful and all the fabrics I used to make it are either organically grown, natural- colored cotton, dyed with natural, non-petroleum dyes or repurposed from thift store finds. This design reflects my own roots in the southwest and my love of steams and pine trees. As you can see, I also had a lot of fun with free motion quilting. I hope you enjoy this pattern and use it to make your own river at dusk. If you do, please send me a photo and I'll post it here.

    Challah Cover

Since I'm trying to keep my quilting as environmentally conscious as possible, I didn't want to waste some half-square triangles that I had left over from snowball blocks I had made for different project. So recently, I was playing around with the extra tan and checkered blocks and came up with this easy quilted pattern for a challah cover. Challah is the braided egg bread that my family eats when we celebrate Shabbat on Friday nights. You could also use this for a placement or candle mat.

I wanted to share this fun little quilt, so I hope you enjoy the free quilt pattern. The finished challah cover measures approximately 20" x 12".
