Do you love quilts? Do you want to practice a more sustainable lifestyle?
I bet you are as passionate about quilting as I am. To me, quilts preserve memories and precious moments in life. I make them for babies and in memory of loved ones. I give them as gifts for bar and bat mitzvahs, holidays and birthdays. Quilts mark life’s most special moments.

What does this have to do with going green? Well, I have committed to practicing my quilting art in a more sustainable, ecologically friendly way.
There are a lot of ways to quilt greener with new fabrics or recycled fabrics, with naturally dyed fabrics and organically grown cotton fabrics. You can even get organically grown cotton thread and organic batting.
Do I think quilting with the traditional, gorgeous fabrics available at your LQS is wrong? No, absolutely not. I love fabric! I can do spend hours browsing, touching and buying it.
However, I have chosen to quilt greener because it makes me feel good. It is a mitzvah. It is also a creative challenge and a stretch for me as a quilter. I invite you to try it too!
