Quilt Photo Gallery 2002-2004

Sometime around late 2001, we decided to add another baby to our family. So I wanted to make another Good Wishes Quilt. Here is the quilt I made while waiting for our second baby girl to come home from China.

I made this bug jar quilt from my sister and her son. Finding and collecting bug fabrics was so much fun. There is a great online store which specializes in bug fabrics - BugFabric.com. BugFabric.com. The basic block for this quilt is the snowball block, which I also used in my first 100 Good Wishes Quilt.

We visited dear friends in Canada one summer and I found some beautiful bright flannel fabrics from which I made two small cuddle blankets for my daughters.

Here is another quilt made with the snowball block. This one is Asian Lanterns. I donated it to a local non-profit group called Southern Arizona Families with Children from China. Later, I moved to the same neighborhood as the woman won my quilt in the raffle. She and her wife are now our good friends and our daughters are close friends in the same grade and the same school! Quilts foster so many connections, don't they?

This Moon Festival quilt was made to honor a founding member of SoAZ FCC. The children colored pieces of fabric with crayons. I then set the drawings onto the fabric using an iron and put together this darling quilt.

I'm always making baby quilts (well now that me and my friends are getting past child-bearing age, I'm not making so many). Here is a very simple one that I made for a friend's third daughter.

As I had made quilt a few pieced quilts, I began to get interested in learning more about free motion quilting. Here is a shark quilt I made for my nephew. I used a fabric kit and my main focus in this quilt was learning free motion quilting. It is quilted with lines that look like kelp, waves and sharks.

One of the last quilts I made in 2002-2004 is this sampler quilt. One of my favorite local quilts shops has a "First Saturday Block of the Month" club. I made this log cabin sampler quilt with the blocks I made for their 2004 BOM. This was such a fun quilt to make. It now resides on my in-laws' boat.
